New Perspectives in Science Education

The 11th International Conference “New Perspectives in Science Education” was held on March 17-18 in Florence, Italy.

The Conference brings together teachers, researchers, practitioners and project managers from all over the world to share findings, expertise and experience about innovative science teaching and learning methodologies, through on-site and on-line presentations, and social events.

This year the conference was attended by representatives of the project team KP-06-M35/3 from 18.12.2019 on the topic: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the National Science Fund of the Ministry of education and science. The main goal of the participation was to analyze the activities in the social network Facebook of the regional libraries and regional history museums in Bulgaria – the situation from the introduction of full lockdown was compared today (March 2020-March 2022). The project and its development in the period before and after the new normal was also presented.

XIX National Scientific Conference with International Participation “Knowledge Society and Humanism of the XXI Century”, November 1, 2021

The “Knowledge Society and Humanism of the XXI Century” is a national scientific conference with international participation, which is held annually on November 1 at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and is dedicated to the Day of the People’s Awakeners.

This year the conference was attended by representatives of the team under project KP 06-M35/3 from 18.12.2019 entitled: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. Svetoslava Dimitrova, PhD and Chief Assist. Sonya Spasova, PhD presented a paper entitled “Museum education – good international practices” in Section II. Cultural Heritage – history, modernity and perspectives.

Seventh Scientific Conference of the University Youth Knowledge Academy at ULSIT on the topic: “Contremporary Strategies and Innovations in Knowedge Management”

In the period 02-04 October 2021, the University Youth Knowledge Academy (UNYKA) at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies held for the seventh consecutive year its Scientific Conference on “Contremporary Strategies and Innovations in Knowedge Management”. The conference aims to stimulate research in various fields of science and their promotion in the form of workshops for the exchange of experience and knowledge, in order to achieve greater adaptability of future researchers to the modern competitive and dynamic environment and their professional development in various scientific fields.

In the current year, Ch. Assistant Prof. Sonya Spasova, PhD together with students Panayot Gindev and Simona Dusheva (members of the team under project KP 06-M35/3 from 18.12.2019 on the topic: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded from the National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science) took part in the forum and presented the results of their research with a paper on “Museums and libraries – spaces for formal and non-formal education.”

XII Scientific-practical educational forum “Innovations in education and cognitive development”, 25-27.08.2021, Burgas

The annual forum INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT is organized by the NGO “Education and Technology” in partnership with: Municipality of Burgas; University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”, Burgas and Burgas Free University.
The emphasis in the topics of the forum are the innovative methods of teaching and learning, oriented towards the formation of skills, ensuring successful life and work of the generations for their life in the XXIst century. The key areas are student-centered pedagogy, learning outside the classroom and integrating technology into the learning process. The program of the forum includes work in specialized sections, where problems and opportunities for development of the learning process are discussed in detail.

In 2021 in the thematic section “Pedagogy and Psychology” at the forum were presented the results of research activities under the project KP 06-M35/3 from 18.12.2019 on the topic: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the Natioonal Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. Presented by Ch. Assist. Prof. Sonya Spasova, PhD and Svetoslava Dimitrova, PhD paper on “Main characteristics of educational programs and initiatives in regional history museums in Bulgaria” was met with interest by the audience and provoked a constructive discussion. EduLearn 2021

The 13th Annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies was held on July 5 and 6, 2021, organized annually by the International Academy of Technology, Education and Development. (IATED).

IATED’s mission is to promote and support dialogue in education between science and technology institutions through:
➞ Promotion of best practice standards in the service of international education.
➞ The facilitation of relevant forums, training and information exchange.
➞ Creation and dissemination of knowledge.
➞ Production of publications used as a database document for research works, projects and innovation activities held on the international education field.

This year the conference was attended by representatives of the team under project KP 06-M35 3 from 18.12.2019 entitled: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the Bulgaria National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. The main purpose of the participation was to present the results of a study of educational programs conducted in regional history museums in 2019, as well as to analyze the activities of regional libraries and regional history museums in the social network Facebook, in the period 13.03.-13.05.2020, when a full lockdown was introduced across the country due to COVID-19. Due to the restrictions introduced in March 2020 in connection with COVID-19, the conference was held entirely virtually.

First work meeting of the team for 2021

On 11.01.2021, in a virtual format, the first work meeting of the team for 2021 under the project “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science, was held. The agenda included an overview of the past year and how #COVID-19 affected our project activities, as well as the upcoming tasks. XVIII National Scientific Conference with International Participation “Knowledge Society and Humanism of the XXI Century”, November 1-2, 2020 Sofia, Bulgaria

The “Knowledge Society and Humanism of the XXI Century” is a national scientific conference with international participation, which is held annually on November 1 at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and is dedicated to the Day of the People’s Awakeners.

In 2020 the forum is under the sign of the 70th anniversary of ULSIT as an educational institution.

This year the conference was attended by representatives of the team under project KP 06-M35/3 from 18.12.2019 entitled: “Research of contemporary educational programs of cultural institutions in Bulgaria”, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science. PhD students Antonii Stanimirov and Arsini Kolev took part in the section “University Youth Knowledge Academy” with a paper on “Education in the museum – modern innovative approaches”.

XI Scientific-practical educational forum “Innovations in education and cognitive development”, 18-22.08.2020, Burgas

The Forum INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT has been held annually since 2010. The event is based on the following goals:

  • To give an opportunity for wide discussion of main problems in the system of education and science in Bulgaria.
  • To bring together teachers from different universities and teachers-practitioners from different towns and villages in the country; to find common ground between theory and practice.
  • To demonstrate new applications of modern technologies in the learning process.
  • To unite the efforts of different institutions for a new vision of the classroom in the Bulgarian school.
  • To establish the annual holding of an educational forum in the city of Burgas with the broad support of the institutions engaged in the educational system in our country.

On 20.08.2020 in Hall A “Petya Dubarova”, as part of the thematic area “Pedagogy and Psychology”, Chief Assistant Professor Sonya Spasova, PhD presented a paper on “Current educational initiatives of museums and libraries in Bulgaria: a new study”.
